In order to meet the ever growing demands of the region a new swimming, sauna and spa complex was constructed. The centre boasts 11 different pools and a total water surface area of 1.354 m2. Visitors can enjoy swimming in one of the seven pools located in the main area or can choose from a further four pools which are located in the sauna area. The indoor pools make up 60% of the water area with the remaining 40% being located outdoors. The two generous outside pools are connected to the inside pools by a heated swimming channel which is open all year round.

Tobogganing in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee
The start of the toboggan run on Hochbifang hill is situated at 1.300 meters above sea level. It meanders through the forest, is always perfectly groomed and also flood lit in the evenings. The toboggan run on the Schwemmberg hill is 3.5km long and toboggans can be hired for those who do not have their own. There are also a number of cosy cabin restaurants where you can warm up.

Flood lit toboggan run on the Hochbifang hill
The flood lit run starts at the Hochnˆssler Alm and the Bifei’s Hut. It is a specially built track which is 4 km long and finishes at the bottom of the Hochbifang ski lift.

The Fascinating Sport of Cross Country Skiing
Endless expanses of untouched natural beauty and waiting for you at one of the most picturesque cross country circuits in Austria. Altenmarkt-Zauchensee is renowned for its never ending cross country tracks which are covered in snow from December to April.

Nestled away from the alpine ski runs and amongst majestic winter sceanery you’ll find a the cross country skiing Mecca of Altenmarkt-Zauchensee. Over 220 kms of cut tracks await cross country enthusiasts. Experts voted the Region Altenmarkt-Zauchensee to one of the three best cross country skiing areas in Austria. With up to date, easy to follow signs and free use of the tracks it is easy to see why.

220 km of tracks which are regularly tracked and groomed for all levels from beginner to expert, classical and skating. The perfect destination for those who want to go at their own pace and also for the more serious cross country skiers.

Horse Riding
...in a Romantic Setting. Regardless of whether you prefer to be in the saddle or in a sled, the wintery conditions in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee promise a most romantic experience. Get away from the busy slopes and tracks and discover the less frequented but well groomed winter walking tracks on horseback or in a majestic horse drawn sle.

Horse drawn sledge
Beginners can take part in, short, introductory rides along the beautiful Enns river. You can also experience the majestic winter landscape by taking a sled ride through the beautiful Zauch valley, through the forest and over the fields or also during a small ride through the town of Altenmark.

Insider Tip: Take a ride to one of the traditional farmhouses for example “Neuhäusl” or towards Radstadt to Sonnegg. Participants: 8 - 14 people
